Charlotte Norwood, Trombone
Charlotte Norwood begin playing the trombone at age twelve after
being inspired by the woman 1st trombone player in her Alabama
college town. She played in the Vanderbilt University band while
getting her nursing degree. For the next twenty years, while working
and raising two sons, she retired from playing. Both sons became
trombone players, one a professional trombone player.
She now plays in her church orchestra and is the lead trombone in
the New HOTS Jazz Orchestra. With the HOTs she has performed in
two tours of New Zealand, and in tours of France and Italy. She has
played in several bands in the area, but limits her playing to three
bands so she can visit her little granddaughters in Beijing.
